About Paralimni & Protaras
Paralimni today is rich and small and a progressive town which combines the advantages
of a traditional village with the conveniences of a contemporary town. Modern shops,
centres and offices stand beside traditional coffee shops and old stores. The main square,
complete with its coffee shops has retained the characteristics of the old village. The adjacent
streets, the new squares and the park all carry the characteristics of a modern town with its
beautiful showrooms and modern shops.
Protaras, the tourist area of Paralimni, is one of the most beautiful areas of Cyprus.
This area expands along the eastern coast of Paralimni. Actually, Protaras is the name of a
picturesque bay with crystal bright sea which is approximately 10 kilometres long. It starts
from the north at the location ‘Kapparis’ and ends in the south, at the location ‘Konnos’.
Fortunately the sea has retained its glassy clarity and Protaras’ beaches are among the best on the island.
Many of the beaches have been awarded the coveted Blue Flag award and offer various facilities for all the family.
Eight kilometres to the south of Protaras is Ayia Napa which offers a vast array of restaurants, bars
and for the more energetic a selection of clubs to suit most tastes.
